No, this is not investment volatility. This is my place to share that I beta test software.  Wasn’t sure where to put it on a slick resume, so I put it here.  This is something most people do not know about me.  I have beta tested numerous software programs and on-line communities, in order to be on the cutting edge, and to gain access for free, or at least in exchange for service.

Online Communities:

  • MSN – nothing today, like it used to be yesterday.  Remember Prodigy and AOL and the various communities to chat, find freeware, and get news.  That’s how it used to be.  I remember my dial up modem and MSN was my free way to the Information Freeway, or the Internet, as we know it today.
  • Office 365 (when websites were free to testers) – Microsoft, just discontinued its web hosting, service, but still likes its subscription based Office Suite services.

Software:

  • Access 2.0 – Yeah, I like databases.
  • Windows 95 – That was the most involved beta ever.  I had over 50 version CD’s.  Would get a new one every few days.  Microsoft really wanted it to be good.
  • SignMakerPro – I am not sure if this is the name or not.  My ex-brother in-law went into the sign making business in Mexico and needed vinyl sign making software.  At the time, good software cost between $500 and $2,000.  This was a new company, and I earned a copy for him by testing its stability on various Windows operating systems.

When it comes to new systems and software at the office, I am usually the one that wants to try it… cutting edge!
